A Preschooler's Concept of Time

Cars toys are back in full-swing in the Person house. Instead of prizes for bathroom deeds (which Jacob is a pro at now!), we have been giving him the opportunity to "earn" Cars toys by being obedient, using his manners, being a good listener and being helpful around the house.

Today, on the way home from preschool, Jacob asked when he would be able to get his new toy.

"If you're a good listener & a big helper for Mom, then you can have it tonight."
"When is it tonight?" he asked.
"When it gets dark. When we put on your pajamas."
"Let's put my pajamas on when we get home!"
"Nope...we have to wait until it gets dark," was my reply.

Long pause...
"God! Could you please make it dark outside? Right now?"
